Airtel, for the first time, would introduce the access of social networking site Facebook in five different languagesincluding Punjabi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam in mobile phones to its subscribers. Initially, the company would offer Facebook in Hindi and English.
“Our mobile customers will also be the first in the world to enjoy Facebook on their Airtel mobile in five vernacular languages. All these reiterate our commitment to customers to offer the best value-for-money services that enable their lifestyles,” said Bharti Airtel, CMO (Mobile Services), Shireesh Joshi.
The telecom major is also offering Facebook usage for free of cost for two months. The company said its subscribers would be offered Facebook access till August 31 completely free of cost.
"For the two-month period, the partnership enables Airtel customers to access Facebook’s full mobile site faster and at no data cost from their Airtel mobiles via m.facebook.com," said an Airtel statement.
Facebook finds the deal as a great opportunity to bring full mobile experience to 13 crore customers across India. It further said that, at present over 10 crore Facebook users around the world access the site through their mobile devices.
